Application Instructions

The Legal Services Innovation Committee is currently implementing the Utah Supreme Court’s new Phase 2 guidance.  The Committee meets monthly (meetings are every third Tuesday and open to the public).  Thank you for your patience in submitting your application and any inquiries.

You will need to register through the Utah State Bar’s website here, which will provide access to the application portal.  The “Register” button is in the top right — after clicking on “Register,” make sure to select the red “Sandbox” button. You will receive a confirmation message: “Click yes to confirm you wish to register for an account for the Sandbox.” (see screenshots below).

The online Sandbox Application consists of three subcomponents

  1. Entity Application ($250 fee) (Please note that you will need to submit a certificate showing your entity is registered and in good standing with the Utah Department of Commerce)
  2. Controlling & Financing Person Addendums (each Controlling and Financing Person will fill out and upload all three addendums)
  3. Background Checks (including Licensing Verifications) for Controlling and Financing Persons.  (Please note that all Controlling and Financing Persons must consent to a credit check, but credit checks will only be completed if deemed necessary by the Legal Services Innovation Committee and/or Utah Supreme Court)
 Applicants are responsible for paying the fees associated with the background checks/licensing verifications.
